cubbie bear
As the game dragged on, and the beer flowed freely, I found myself slouched in my seat, nursing my last brewski of the night. The stadium lights cast a hazy glow over the field, and the crowd's cheers faded into a distant hum.
Suddenly, I felt a tap on my shoulder, and I turned to see a stranger seated beside me, eyeing the game with a mix of boredom and curiosity. With a slurred speech, I leaned in and gestured toward the field, "Ya see that bear over there? Cubbie Bear, they call 'im. Used to be the pride of the Cubs' minor leagues, he did. Now look at 'im, stumbling 'round like a lost soul."
I reached into my bag and pulled out a crumpled t-shirt, featuring none other than Cubbie Bear himself, looking more inebriated than ever. "But ya know what? This shirt ain't just any shirt," I exclaimed, waving it around like a flag of victory. "It's a piece of history, my friend! And it's gonna make ya look like a million bucks!"
I rattled off the specs like a seasoned salesman, slurring some of the words as I went along. "100% cotton, ya hear? And if you prefer a dash of sporty flair, we got Sport Grey, Ash Grey, and even Heather colors! Plus, it's got the perfect fabric weight, open-end yarn, tubular fabric, taped neck and shoulders, and double seam at sleeves and bottom hem. Quality stuff, I tell ya!"
With a drunken grin, I leaned back in my seat, holding the shirt out like a prized possession. "And get this, buddy, it's sourced from all over the place—Honduras, Nicaragua, Haiti, Dominican Republic, Bangladesh, Mexico. Just like Cubbie Bear himself, a true international sensation!"
The stranger eyed the shirt with a mix of skepticism and amusement, but I could see a glimmer of interest in their eyes. "So, what do ya say? Wanna be part of the legend? Wear this shirt, and you'll feel like you're runnin' the bases with Cubbie Bear himself!"
And with that, I passed the shirt over to the stranger, sealing the deal with a drunken wink. Whether they bought into my pitch or not, one thing was for sure—Cubbie Bear and I had just gained ourselves a new fan.
